All is NOT quiet on the Eastern Front.
It has been another busy year at Eastern Front Theatre!
A year that saw us start a new season with the very popular, heart-warming Cape Breton story of the birth of the credit union movement, Lindsay Kyte's TOMPKINSVILLE. I was thrilled with the positive reaction to the play.
We had a completely sold out fundraiser, as part of HAL-CON, a dramatic reading of Howard Koch's War Of The Worlds, the infamous 1930's Orson Welles radio broadcast. A dozen actors recreated the entire broadcast and we are so grateful to all who participated, supported or attended.
In the Spring, we hosted So You Think You Can Act? : a fun-filled night of hilarity as Hali-Famous contestants competed in a reality-show-style night, showing their acting chops. Six contestants, three judges and one coveted trophy. The night was a lot of fun and we are so grateful to all who assisted with the night at Casino Nova Scotia!
Thanks to Cathy Jones, Jonathan Torrens, Jacob Sampson - our three judges. We kneel down, with gratitude, for Cyril Lunney, Ana Almeida, JC Douglas, Megan Leslie, Christopher Webb and Michael 'Fat Apollo' McCluskey. They were brave and bold contestants.
Touch-A-Truck 2017: Our incredibly popular family-friendly fundraising event was indoors, bigger and better than ever before in May, at the Halifax Exhibition Centre, Prospect Rd. Thousands of people came through the door and clambered all over the 30 vehicles on show.
Then our second show of the year, CHASING CHAMPIONS, hit the Neptune Scotiabank Stage and exceeded its box office targets. This award-winning show won many hearts over its two week run and will continue forward, as EFT secured the producing rights to tour the show. Watch this space!
Because we do not like to sit still, Chasing Champions was closely followed by our two week STAGES Theatre Festival, where we had SIXTEEN different shows and events in a two week period, in six venues around Halifax. The Festival is the jewel in EFT's crown...supporting, nurturing and promoting the creation of Atlantic Canadian work.
Now we turn our attention to the 2017-18 season, our 25th year! Check out the line-up and join us at the theatre!
Want to support EFT? You can become a donor. Learn how and what perks you get (invitations, tax receipts, rewards) on our donor page.
So, welcome to Eastern Front Theatre and as we move towards our 25th anniversary (2017-18) to another year of focusing on what Atlantic Canadians do best: tell stories, tell dynamic stories and tell them better than anyone else.
Eyes Front, everyone.
