THRIFT MUSICAL
BOOK & LYRICS BY D.S. CRAIG

“Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say, more offices than to merely keep us warm.
They change our view of the world and the world's view of us.” -- Virginia Woolf
“Frenchy’s, The Thrift Musical” uses the iconic Maritime thrift store as the back drop to a musical comedy. It is the story of four women from three generations of the same East Coast family who have been distanced by time and Covid and who try, during a twenty-four-hour road trip/reunion, to get along. Getting along is complicated by their unique internal struggles. Gail is going through a divorce and is overwhelmed. Marj is stuck in her jeans and her youthful glory days. Nineteen-year-old Tessa, Gail’s daughter, has a fashion sense that is unemployable. And the matriarch is Sally, a sixty-five-year mother/grandmother who has a potentially tragic secret. All of these women need to change and the metaphor for that change is clothes. And where do you find clothes at a fraction of regular retail? Frenchy’s.
